Wiseplace Woman's transitional shelter At Wiseplace there are currently 40 women residing at that shelter, as well as 60 additional women staying at SafePlace their emergency shelter that is placed in the same location. Both shelters have worked hard to help end homelessness in women by providing housing and other resources to help these women take one step toward self-independence. Because Wiseplace is a transitional shelter, there is not a lot of government funding available for them so they primarily run on donations. Due to Covid-19 quarantine, serving food and helping with essential donations at the moment would be greatly appreciated. Once the shelter gets cleared to have volunteers, we will have the opportunity to serve and do more for them on a personal level. Here are the following ways you can help out at Wiseplace: - The last Sunday of every month, we get to serve Wiseplace woman's shelter with breakfast. There are currently 40 women residing in this shelter and if one person could help with making one breakfast dish this would help immensely! You can either help deliver the food directly to the shelter or you can meet me at Free Chapel OC by 8:15am and I can deliver it for you. Breakfast must to be delivered by 8:30am. - Other ways of helping is if we could help with donating essential items as well as linens, pillows, and towels. They also receive clothes and shoes donations. (Wiseplace Address: 1411 N Broadway, Santa Ana, Ca 92706) Courtyard Shelter Courtyard Shelter is located in the heart of Santa Ana. Their shelter is held in a courtyard where they welcome and provide shelter to anyone who is experiencing homelessness. There are couples, elderly, as well as young people in their 20s. The shelter serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but there isn't enough food for everyone there. This shelter also runs on partial government funding and runs their shelter on donations, so our mission is to help produce donations like non-perishable foods to help feed those that are in most need. We will collect items the second Sunday of the month and deliver them to the shelter. Here is a list of items that are in need: - macaroni and cheese cups -cup of noodles -granola bars -ensure -water bottles -essential items (men and woman hygiene items) I know we are all facing really hard times. I can't imagine what these people are facing. Now more than ever we have to be the face of God and be those that can help the ones that are facing hardship. Pastor Jentenzen said once, "If you do what you can, God will do what you cannot" this is something we as church can do. We can help not just through donation but Prayer! "For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home." - Matthew 25:35. If you yourself are in need of anything, please don't feel embarrassed and privately message me. I will help out as much as I can! We must love and help each other during these unforeseen times. God is with us and he is FOR us! I love you all and I look forward to meet you. Huge thanks in advance for helping us.

Up and Running Again is a non-profit Christian organization that trains the homeless to run half marathons. The 14-week program is meant to start the non-runner slowly towards being able to run 13.1 miles. Most importantly, this program builds more than just healthy physical habits. When runners complete the Up and Running Again program, it challenges them to look towards other areas of their life and realize that they can accomplish much more than they thought possible if they follow steps towards reaching that goal. Through training for a half marathon, they have realized that they are not quitters, that they can stick with something, and that working together as a team is a much more effective way to keep them accountable and motivated. To volunteer with this organization, Free Chapel will have a group who meets on Saturdays at 6:30am at the Orange County Rescue Mission to train with those participating from the mission. This will begin first Saturday of April 2021 through June, with the final race (Ransomed Half Marathon) date on June 19, 2021. Those wanting to run the actual marathon will have to pay for the entrance fee, but volunteering and training is no cost to participate.
